The Men Who Wear the Star, by Charles Robinson III Comments: A well-documented history of the Texas Rangers. The author presents the story of the Rangers from their organization in 1835 until the present time. Very entertaining.

The Comanche Empire, by Pekka Hamalainen Comments: A comprehensive and informative history of the Comanche nation. The author traces the Comanches from origins among the Shoshones, moving through Colorado and becoming allied with the Utes. Later, they established control over parts of Texas, New Mexico, and northern Mexico. A fascinating look at western US history.
